A couple have been left distraught after their cat escaped from its cage on the way to a cattery in Brampton.

Jean Cushion, 82, and her 83-year-old husband Syd from Barnby in Suffolk, were preparing to go on holiday on Saturday morning and were taking their cat Tommy to a cattery in Station Road, Brampton.

Daughter Alison Clough said: 'My dad was getting the cat box out of the car when the door flew open and the cat ran out.

'We have put up posters and flyers through people's houses but there has been no sign of him.

'My mum keeps phoning to see if he has been found. They are having the worst time.'

Tommy is grey and white, 13 years old, and has a sore on his nose.

He is described as being nervous but could be enticed with food.

A £50 reward has been offered for his return and anyone with information is asked to call 01502 565595 or 07742321740.
