Court case reaction

THE Journal has again effectively produced further evidence of the abysmal performance of Lowestoft magistrates when it comes to prosecuting offending drivers.

THE Journal has again effectively produced further evidence of the abysmal performance of Lowestoft magistrates when it comes to prosecuting offending drivers.

I refer to the report (April 25) of the crash between a van driver and an ambulance.

The van driver failed to see or hear an ambulance with its lights flashing and siren sounding. As the ambulance was on an emergency call presumably it wasn't just those on the road whose lives were put in danger.

So Lowestoft magistrates impose a pathetic five extra points on his licence and a fine of £200 plus £50 costs.

The driver should have suffered a ban.

Curious that the driver now has a total of eight points on his licence, which I think is one short for an automatic year ban to be imposed.
