Crews tackle caravan and car fires

FIRE crews in Lowestoft have tackled a caravan fire in Gunton and a car fire near the town centre.

A team from the Normanshurst station were called to Gunton Avenue just after 8.

FIRE crews in Lowestoft have tackled a caravan fire in Gunton and a car fire near the town centre.

A team from the Normanshurst station were called to Gunton Avenue just after 8.30 last night to deal with the blaze at the caravan with another crew from Clifton Road also being sent some 45 minutes later. They had to carry out salvage work and used cutting gear, breathing apparatus and lights to deal with the incident which was reported to have been completed by 10pm.

Earlier, at 4.30pm, a crew from Normanshurst dealt with a car fire at the junction of Tennyson Road and Milton Road East. It took them eight minutes to deal with the blaze.
