ANOTHER carping letter from the Conservative parliamentary candidate for Waveney in The Journal (May 16).

He says he can't guarantee a third crossing if he were elected, but wants to “work with all parties” to achieve this.

Why doesn't he start now by persuading the Conservative councillors who run Suffolk County Council to support a third crossing and back Bob Blizzard's campaign?

I've read Mr Blizzard's petition and followed the articles in The Journal. As I see it, he's not blaming Suffolk County Council or expecting them to pay for a third crossing. He just wants Suffolk County Council to support a third crossing by putting it into their transport plan, so that together, our elected representatives at all levels can take a bid to the government. It's a bit rich to criticise the MP while at the same time withholding support for what he's trying to do.

Mr Aldous should also know that the bascule bridge hasn't been de-trunked and hasn't he noticed that the South Lowestoft Relief Road has been achieved with £30m of government money?

Perhaps he can tell us when the Conservatives ever put such an amount into the town in all their 18 years?
