SPECIAL DONATION: The organisers of Crucial Crew received the generous donation of a mountain bike from Birds Eye of Lowestoft, to help raise funds for the popular fortnight of events.
Morrisons supermarket in South Lowestoft kindly allowed volunteers to sell raffle tickets at the entrance to their store, giving shoppers the chance to win the mountain bike. The winning ticket was drawn by Lowestoft Rotary Club President, Philip Hayes, at a recent meeting. The draw raised the grand total of £530.
Crucial Crew is a non-profit making organisation, which was formed to give safety advice and educate school children from year six within the Waveney area on specific dangers, through a series of scenarios.
In conjunction with Waveney Community Safety Group, and the three Lowestoft Rotary Clubs, the event is held for two weeks of the year in November. In 2014 there were 1,230 children from across Waveney who attended one of the morning or afternoon sessions, held at Lowestoft Community Church in South Lowestoft.
It costs £1,400 a year to put the event on, which is funded with grateful sponsorship from the three Rotary clubs in Lowestoft, The Halesworth Lions, Waveney Community Safety and donations from local businesses.
