THE world's only formation wing walking team, Team Guinot, will be pioneering a daring new manoeuvre at Lowestoft's Seafront Air Festival on Thursday and Friday July 24 and 25.

The girls will leave the safety of their static harness to sit on the leading edge of the top wing directly above the planes propeller as they soar above Lowestoft at 100mph.

The breathtaking feat is affectionately named the Guinot Goose after the nickname of its creator, 21 year old wingwalker Lucy Foster.

She said: “I feel as free as a bird sitting on the leading edge”, says Lucy. “I can see for miles and the sense of freedom is amazing.”

Team leader Vic Norman is immensely proud of his team to be bringing new ideas to the air show circuit for 2008.

He said: “The new move truly demonstrates the talent of our wing walkers. The girls literally have taken wing walking acrobatics to new heights. It takes exceptional ability and strength to complete the move and the crowd won't be disappointed.”

The famous Team Guinot 1940s Boeing Stearman biplanes will also perform an adrenalin-pumping sequence of loops, rolls and turns, while the glamorous wing walkers wave and perform handstands against 150mph wind pressure, experiencing forces of up to 4G.

Friends of the festival have now topped 800, which is well up on the same time last year, with organisers hopeful they can break the 1000 barrier soon.

The latest application has come from Pakefield Parish Church, who has sent a cheque for £200. The church made a similar donation last year when they provided tea and cakes to visitors during the show.
