Police are investigating the incident at Lower Clarence Road, at the back of the Royal Mail sorting office, and have recovered a knife which may have been used in the attack.

One man suffered a chest wound and the other a leg injury. Both were taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

It is understood the injuries are not life-threatening

Initial reports suggest the men were attacked in the street by three Afro-Caribbean men.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 5.11pm, and a police cordon put in place to allow scenes of crime officers to scour the area, including adjoining car parks.

Royal Mail staff were unable to leave or enter the sorting office by vehicle until the cordon was lifted at 7.30pm.
