A MOTHER-OF-TWO who went out to buy cigarettes from a supermarket when she was more than two and a half times the legal drink-drive limit, has been banned from driving for 20 months.
Karen Hubbard, 40, from Monarch Way, Carlton Colville, near Lowestoft, admitted drink-driving on July 11 when she appeared at Lowestoft Magistrates' Court yesterday.
The court heard she gave a reading of 97mg in 100ml of breath when the legal limit is 35mg.
Prosecuting, Colette Griffiths said Mrs Hubbard told police when she was stopped at about 12.30am, that she had had 'loads of wine'.
The court heard that Mrs Hubbard had entertained friends at her address and not intended to drive that night.
In mitigation, James Hartley said: 'She was driving slowly and that's why she attracted the police's attention. She bitterly regrets what she did.'
Mrs Hubbard, who works as a waitress and has children aged eight and 13, was fined �350 with a victim surcharge of �15 and ordered to pay �60 costs. Her licence was endorsed.
