A coroner has spoken out about the dangers of drug abuse after an inquest was held on a man found dead in a Lowestoft flat.
Gordon Morris, 41, had been taking heroin for just a few months before his death, the hearing at Lowestoft Magistrates' Court was told yesterday. Emergency services were called to the flat, in Milton Road East, early on November 30 and found his body.
A post-mortem examination showed that Mr Morris, of Normanston Drive, had died from bronchial pneumonia and fluid on the lungs brought on by drugs and alcohol.
A statement from Mr Morris's partner, Susan Love, said he had injected heroin before his death and that he had only been a user for a few months.
Recording a verdict of accidental death, Greater Suffolk coroner Dr Peter Dean said: “It emphasises the dangers of drug abuse, particularly if alcohol is used in conjunction with heroin. This was a very sad accident that took the life of Gordon Morris.”
