FOUR legendary female celebrities are visiting Bungay for one night only.

Carol Thatcher, Britt Ekland, Honor Blackman and Baroness Shirley Williams will all appear at the Fisher Theatre during the spring and summer season.

Carol Thatcher first came to the nation's attention as the daughter of conservative MP and prime minister, Margaret Thatcher.

Since then she has written numerous books, including her father's biography, been a winner of the hit ITV show, I'm a Celebrity - Get Me Out of Here! and enjoyed a job as a journalist and broadcaster.

When she was a child, Baroness Shirley Williams believed that being an MP would give her the power to bring about all kinds of good things for society.

After a career in journalism in the 1950s, Baroness Williams became general secretary of the Fabian Society and in 1964 was elected MP for Hitchin. She went on to serve as a member of both the Wilson and Callaghan governments in the 1960s and 1970s and after 35 years in the Labour Party she was a founding member of the Social Democratic Party.

She supported the foundation of the Liberal Democrats in 1987 and stood down as their leader in the House of Lords in September 2004 after three years of service.

Bond girls Honor Blackman and Britt Ekland will be known to many for their memorable roles alongside 007, but both have enjoyed successful stage and screen careers over many years.

Swedish actress Ms Ekland is known to many for her high profile marriage to Peter Sellers, alongside her roles in The Wicker Man and The Man with the Golden Gun.

Ms Blackman is most famous for her role as Pussy Galore in Goldfinger and for playing Cathy Gale in The Avengers. She has also played many famous theatre roles including Mrs Higgins in My Fair Lady, as well as television roles in The Upper Hand and Doctor Who.

Les Hoare, marketing manager said despite the fact that all four shows were not yet advertised ticket sales were well ahead of expectation.

He said: 'Once we have confirmed a date for a performer it is amazing just how quickly the word spreads locally. Our Evening With performances always sell out and the intimate atmosphere in our theatre adds to these occasions.'

Carol Thatcher will share an evening with guests on Wednesday, March 3, Baroness Shirley Williams on Wednesday, April 7, Britt Ekland on Thursday, June 3 and Honor Blackman on Sunday, July 18.
