Police believe an elderly man, who was found with a number of serious injuries in Lowestoft, was hit by a vehicle which failed to stop.

Officers were called about 12.50am yesterday (November 15) by a member of the public who found the man in the High Street, near to the petrol station.

The victim, aged in his 80s, was rushed to hospital after suffering a broken wrist, a number of broken and dislocated fingers and a suspected broken leg.

A police spokesman said: 'Officers believe the man may have been struck by a vehicle which failed to stop at the scene and are currently investigating.'

Witnesses or anybody who has any information is asked to call Lowestoft Police on 101 quoting reference CAD 6 of November 15.
