TWO north Suffolk high schools have teamed up to help create the engineers of the future.
Benjamin Britten High School and Lowestoft College have teamed up in partnership with Leiston High School to recently launch a Young Apprenticeship in engineering scheme.
The Young Apprenticeship is a national programme that sees students from Key Stage 4 completing industry related qualifications, as well as their normal school work.
In addition to the formal qualification, the programme demands 50 days work related learning, but due to the constraints of the timetables students have to complete this during their school holidays, which shows the considerable commitment of the pupils.
Nik O'Dwyer, head of engineering at Leiston High School, said: “This programme is a great opportunity to positively promote engineering to students within the partnership.”
