It was a time for celebration at Africa Alive! as almost 2,000 people enjoyed a popular annual twilight event.

Visitors to the park in Kessingland watched two appearances from the Mighty Zulu Nation Theatre Company – who showcased the dynamic traditional Zulu culture with their captivating performances.

There was also the chance to view all of the animals within the park, including the lions, zebra, giraffes and meerkats, at the event held on Saturday, June 11.

Also on the packed schedule of events were a live blues band, a birds of prey flying display and the opportunity to meet players and staff of Lowestoft Town FC – who have recently announced Africa Alive! as their main partner.

Kirsty Dupée, park operations manager, said: 'We were unsure what to expect this time, given that we were up against England's first football match in the European Championships and a weekend of celebrations marking the Queen's 90th birthday, but we made sure we did everything possible to make this the best one yet.

'The team here at the park have worked exceptionally hard, as always, bringing together a night packed full of entertainment.'

Ntobeko Cele, who is part the Mighty Zulu Nation Theatre Company, added: 'It is good to be back to see some old faces.

'The atmosphere at this event is great and we are all really excited for the summer now.'

Sally Charge attended the event with her children Emily, 10, Ross, 8 and Ryan, 4.

'I come every year and the atmosphere is amazing,' she said.

'You get to see loads of people you know – it has the same sort of feel as the air show.'
