Entrepreneurs and firms to be recognised

THE Lowestoft and Waveney Chamber of Commerce Business Awards has been launched this week which is aiming to recognise successful businesses and individuals in the region.

THE Lowestoft and Waveney Chamber of Commerce Business Awards has been launched this week which is aiming to recognise successful businesses and individuals in the region.

It was given lift off at the Hotel Victoria, in Lowestoft, yesterday, at a chamber breakfast meeting.

And now The Journal, one of the main sponsors of the awards, is encouraging its readers to put forward nominations for the 18 categories, which are being supported by an array of companies, organisations and individuals.

They include Waveney MP Bob Blizzard, Jobcentre Plus, SSDM, Business Link East, Jeld Wen, Hotel Victoria, Carlton Manor, Essex and Suffolk Water, Everything Office, Motivation Matters, One Estates, Norton Peskett, Lowestoft College, 1st East, PKF, Beach Radio, Britten Centre, Sanyo and Orbis Energy.

The business awards will culminate with a prestigious awards evening on November 20, at The Wherry Hotel, in Oulton Broad, with some 200 guests expected to attend.

Linda Thornton, chief officer of the chamber, added: “We are delighted that The Journal has agreed to be the headline sponsor of these awards, along with individual categories sponsored exclusively by our patrons, which include Bob Blizzard MP. In addition, local radio station The Beach will be sponsoring the retail awards.”

TV personality Helen McDermott has agreed to host the awards evening and local talent, singer Kerry Kennedy, is also to appear at the event.
