LITTERING, dog fouling and fly-tipping are being targeted in a crackdown across Waveney.
Waveney District Council has been training staff, including lifeguards, harbourmasters, car park inspectors and cleaners, to issue incident tickets and record vital evidence from any environmental crimes which they witness while out on their normal duties.
These latest recruits join police community support officers (PCSOs), who can issue fixed penalty notices in the fight against environmental crimes, including failure to clear up after your pet.
The scheme can also be used in the fight against breaches of smokefree legislation, racist and offensive graffiti and litter from business premises.
Since the programme was launched in April, 30 people have been trained and 61 fixed penalty notices have been issued. There have been six successful convictions and 12 letters have been sent to residential and commercial premises.
