Equal enthusiasm from team and fans

EACH week, The Journal's sports pages report the great talent and achievement of the town's sportsmen and women, making not only a very interesting read but also the entire community proud.

I think it's brilliant to see so much energy being used to its full potential, showing fantastic achievement of many young people in the town.

Naturally the stars of Lowestoft Town Football Club feature regulary with the last few week's sports pages reporting of one of the team's greatest achievements so far - in just under a month's time, Lowestoft Town will be running onto the pitch of the most famous football stadium in the world, hoping to lay their hands on the FA Vase.

The chance to play at Wembley hasn't been handed to the team on a plate, as they have worked tirelessly to get to this point, with things not being made any easier by some financially difficult months.

Whenever I've been to watch Lowestoft play at Crown Meadow, I'm always impressed by the support of not only the people who work behind the scenes but also the fans who come along to support their team. Many faces are regular features of the stands and it's obvious how much the Blues mean to their followers. Also when talking to those who work at the club it's always clear how important the team's success is to them on both a professional and personal level.

The positive response from fans visible from ticket applications to the club is terrific.

It's great to see such a high level of interest and support. It would be great to see the same numbers of people interested in Lowestoft playing at Wembley showing equal levels of support at every home game. The team always shows the same dedication and enthusiasm and it's obvious how much talent there is amongst the players.

I would be very surprised if ticket sales at Crown Meadow didn't see an impressive increase next season as I am sure that Lowestoft's debut at Wembley will attract a whole new group of regular supporters.
