A wreath laying ceremony is to take place to mark the 75th anniversary since the most disastrous day of the Second World War for Lowestoft.

The wreath will be laid under the memorial plaque at the Marina Theatre by Lowestoft deputy mayor Mary Rudd at 4.27pm this afternoon.

The date and time coincides with the exact 75th anniversary of the worst raid of the war in Lowestoft - when four bombs from a single German bomber killed 70 people.

The plaque, commemorating all civilians killed in air raids on Lowestoft, was first laid by the Jack Rose Old Lowestoft Society 25 years ago, from funds raised from the 50th anniversary slide show at the Marina Theatre.

Historians Bob Collis and Chris Brooks will also be giving a presentation on wartime Lowestoft and the 75th anniversary of the raid at the Marina Theatre between 2pm and 4pm today.
