THE Choose Suffolk All Energy Series - Renewables networking lunch took place at OrbisEnergy in Lowestoft on Thursday last week, bringing together 55 delegates from across the area's burgeoning renewable sector.
The event, which was supported by Choose Suffolk and organised by the East of England Energy Group (EEEGR), was the second in a series focusing on a low carbon mix of energy sources and explored the opportunities available within renewable energies.
A number of leading experts from across the renewables sector delivered presentations that gave an insight into the county's potential to maximise the capabilities and competence of the area and its existing skilled workforce within the energy supply chain.
Presentations were heard from Peter Wortley, Project Director of the Eastern Region Wind Energy Group, a consortium of UK engineering and manufacturing businesses from a wide range of sectors, including oil, gas, aerospace and automotive.
Other speakers included Chris Anderson of 4C Offshore, a consultancy company providing a range of expertise to offshore industries, ranging from geotechnical and geophysical, to hydrographic and environmental; Jessica Topham, Operations Manager at Consense, a company providing consultation for community engagement; and Strategic Director at NWES, John Balch, who runs a variety of business incubators in the region, including OrbisEnergy.

This latest event in the Choose Suffolk Energy Series brings together some of the sector's leading renewable practitioners to talk about the ways in which Suffolk can produce real benefits from the coming low carbon economy.'
The next event in the series takes place at OrbisEnergy on Tuesday, January 26, and is entitled Choose Suffolk for Nuclear, Past, Present and Future.
