There have been delays to train services after trees fell on the railway line near Wickham Market Station.

Train services running between Ipswich and Lowestoft are returning to normal after fallen trees had blocked the railway line – but disruption is still expected until 7pm.

Problems on the line between Wickham Market and Saxmundham on Saturday afternoon (October 13) had meant that Greater Anglia train services running through Wickham Market were “cancelled, delayed or revised.”

The 6.07pm Lowestoft to Ipswich service was cancelled while the 6.17pm Ipswich to Lowestoft train was due to start at Saxmundham.

But after Network Rail engineers moved the tree from the line, a Great Anglia spokesman said: “all lines have now reopened.

The spokesman added: “Train services running through this station (Wickham Market) are returning to normal but some services may still be cancelled, delayed or suspended. Disruption is expected until 7pm.

“Greater Anglia and Network Rail are sorry if your journey has been affected by this disruption.”
