Families are set to have a fun day out, enjoy a raft of live entertainment, take to two wheels and learn some cycling skills when Lowestoft hosts its second cycling festival next weekend.

The event, on May 16 and 17, will bring together cycling organisations, retailers and entertainers from across the local area. Aimed at the whole family, there will be activities to suit all ages and abilities.

The Lowestoft Cycle Festival, which attracted more than 4,000 visitors during its inaugural edition in May 2013, will this year see the whole of the Royal Green in Lowestoft transformed into a cycling village, with a large marquee filled with retail opportunities and the latest technology. There will be live entertainment, a BMX stunt display team, free bike marking and cycle maintenance, information and advice, and activities for all ages including a 'fun zone' for younger visitors.

Students from Lowestoft College are volunteering their own time to help run the event.

Festival organiser, Terry Osborne, said 'you just have to look at the number of people using cycles in Lowestoft to see how important it is for the town.'
