Two popular family events are joining forces to create a big weekend of entertainment.

Halesworth Lions' Wings and Wheels is uniting with Heveningham Hall's Country Fair to create a weekend full of impressive flying displays, vintage cars and ring shows.

Yesterday the two groups announced that they would be combining the two events at Heveningham Hall this summer as they launched the Country Fair with Wings and Wheels.

Hall owner Lois Hunt said the two day event is an exciting prospect.

'It will bring people together and is something to look forward to in these difficult times,' she said. 'It is a great opportunity for us to build on the experience and success of our fair and also the Halesworth Lions' Wing and Wheels.'

It moved to Henham Park but last year's event had to be cancelled due to poor weather conditions.

John Mendham, of Halesworth Lions, said: 'We had always fancied moving back here so we got in touch and asked how they felt about it.

'We met the committee of the Country Fair and they said they always liked to have a two day event so how do you feel about joining, and we nearly bit their arm off.'

The event will have flying on both days, with the emphasis on veteran aircrafts.

The headline act of the flying display will be the Blades team.

Mr Mendham said: 'Lots of events have been curtailed or cancelled because of the financial position or health and safety, but here we are improving and making the whole thing much bigger and we are looking forward to a fantastic event.'

The weekend, which will be Saturday and Sunday, July 6 and 7, will be the 11th Wings and Wheels and the 17th Country Fair.

Anne Clark, chairman of the County Fair trust, said that each year they try to improve the fair.

She said: 'We will work hand in hand with the Lions to bring together what we have done on one day to two days.'

The weekend will feature a full ring programme including monster trucks, as well as craft and trade stands, vintage cars, tractors and animals.

It will raise money for local, national and international good causes and charities.

Entry will be £10 on the day for adults or £8 in advance. It will be £5 or £4 for children, aged five to 14, and £8 or £6 for concessions. A family ticket, of two adults and three children, will be £30 or £25 in advance.
