Field and car fires keep crews busy

FIRE crews in Lowestoft have been kept busy with two field fires and car blazes over the past 24 hours.

The first incident was at 1.20pm yesterday, off Brendon Close, Oulton, when some cut straw, measuring 3x3 metres caught alight.

Buckets of water were used to put out the flames which was dealt with by 1.30pm.

Later in the afternoon a crew from the town's Normanshurst station were called to deal with a field of stubble crops, measurinig 30x2 metres, which were on fire.

The blaze broke out at Camps Heath, at 3pm, and the crew had to use beaters to douse the flames. The incident was over by 3.20pm.

And in the early hour of this morning two crews from Normanshurst were called out at 2.40 to Harbour Road to deal with two cars on fire. They had dealt with the incident by 3.05am.
