A COMMUNITY action group that has pumped millions of pounds into projects in Lowestoft allocated more funds to deserving causes at their penultimate meeting.

At the meeting last week, the board of Lowestoft Together awarded 32,350 to various projects that will benefit local people.

Included in this total was funding for Timebank - a Community Mental Health Action Group - money to OPTUA for The Big Splash in Lowestoft, funds for a pilot project by St. Lukes Church to help bring vulnerable people out of isolation into a friendly and welcoming environment and in the Whitton area Suffolk Association of Voluntary Organisations were allocated funds to run taster training sessions for people who would not normally access any form of training.

Another allocation was to The Pantaloons - a touring theatre company - who now will be able to perform a free open air production of Macbeth in Sparrows Nest Park on May Bank Holiday Monday. This will include added humour and interaction from the audience.

Having awarded more than 3m of government money to projects that have directly benefited the town in the past four years, Lowestoft Together chairman, Sue Henderson, said: 'As there is only one more round of funding left before the project comes to an end and we want to ensure that we do spend all of our money.

'We urge anyone who would like to apply to speak first to Kath Scott or Stuart Halsey on 01502 523180 to get all the details and information on how to go about it.'

The last board meeting of Lowestoft Together will be held on March 23 where there will be some time for reflection.

If a group or organisation have benefited from Lowestoft Together in its four year history officials would like to hear from you.

'Please note that the deadline for applications for the last round of funding is February 23, so get in touch soon,' Mrs Henderson said.

'You can also let us know if you would like to take part in our celebration event, which we are planning for the summer.'
