Fire at seafront fish and chip shop

Firefighters spent nearly an hour putting out a fire at a popular fish and chip shop in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The blaze at the Pakefield Plaice, on Pakefield Street, Lowestoft, started at about 4.30am.

Firefighters spent nearly an hour putting out a fire at a popular fish and chip shop in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The blaze at the Pakefield Plaice, on Pakefield Street, Lowestoft, started at about 4.30am and destroyed the wooden fenced outdoor eating area which is next to the main shop.

The heat from the flames caused minor damage to the wall of the next door bungalow, which was empty at the time. The fire was put out by 5.25am.
