A well-used shelter that stood in a popular park has been destroyed by fire.
Firefighters were called at around 5.34am this morning following reports of a blaze at Nicholas Everitt Park, off Bridge Road, in Oulton Broad.
One crew from Lowestoft South fire station was mobilised and found that a shelter in the park was well alight.
The crew dealt with the fire and the scene was considered safe by 6.20am. The remains of the shelter, which was beyond repair, have since been removed.
An investigation to establish the cause of the blaze, which is thought to have been started deliberately, is being carried out.
