Firefighters from Lowestoft quickly dealt with a chip pan blaze at a flat in the town.
Two fire crews were called out following reports of a kitchen fire within a flat at The Hemplands, in Melbourne Road, at 6.28pm last night (Thursday).
With dry powder extinguishers used to bring the fire in a chip pan under control, a brigade spokesman said: 'The occupant had isolated the supply to the cooker and placed a damp cloth over the pan prior to fire service arrival. The property was heavily smokelogged by the fire.'
