Fire crews acted quickly after a blaze broke out in the engine compartment of a vessel in Oulton Broad.
A total of six appliances were called to the area close to Brooke Marine, on Heath Road, just before 2.30pm yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon.
A brigade spokesman said: “Crews dismantled decks to access the engine room, and got the small fire under control using a jet and foam.”
No-one was on the vessel at the time and the fire was under control by 4pm.
Crews from Gorleston and Great Yarmouth also attended to help Suffolk Fire and Rescue service.
A spokesman for The Environment Agency, who were also informed of the fire, said: “The fire service always alerts us if the site has an Environment Agency permit and if they use foam on a fire – as it has to be disposed of at the proper site.
“In the case of the fire yesterday both applied.
“I understand the boat was in a dry dock and the foam was contained in the engine room.
“We will be in touch with the site about the safe disposal of the contaminated liquefied foam.”
