TOP industry names from across the world descended on Scotland this week - and joining them were more than 20 companies from Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth.

TOP industry names from across the world descended on Scotland this week - and joining them were more than 20 companies from Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth.

The global pull of the SPE Offshore Europe oil and gas conference and exhibition held in in Aberdeen this week attracted leading firms and businesses.

At the Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft East of England stand at the exhibition, there were also new local businesses showcasing their services for the first time.

Described as having 'everything you need on one stand,' the East of England Energy Group (EEEGR), Great Yarmouth Marketing Initiative (GYMI) and Waveney District Council teamed up to highlight the region's energy supply chain.

This partnership-run shared stand saw about 115sqm of the Scottish venue taken over by 21 companies from the East of England and featured services as varied as safety specialists, jack-up liftboats, offshore engineering, component specialists, crisis media management, platform systems and diving and hydraulic services.

'We have such a vast range of products and services on display,' said John Best, chief executive of EEEGR.

Robert Fisk, economic development officer at Waveney Council, said: 'We have more than 40 years experience working successfully with offshore technology in East Anglia and are pleased to work in partnership with the East of England Energy Group and Great Yarmouth Marketing Initiative to highlight and demonstrate the comprehensive range of goods and services on offer in the sub-region.'

The stand highlighted the services of the following local firms and agencies: EEEGR, GYMI, Waveney District Council, AKD Engineering, Anzett AS, Applied Acoustic Engineering, Aquanos, Aquaterra Energy, ASCO, ATB Laurence Scott, Atlas Industrial and Marine, C-MAC MicroTechnology, CHPV Offshore Energy Media Services, EastPort UK, Great Yarmouth Borough Council, Media & Crisis Management, Milltech Precision Eng, Neftemer, Oilennium, Orwell Offshore, Pegasus Energy UK, Seajacks, Specialised Management Services, Subsea Protection Systems, Tyco Fire & Integrated Solutions (formerly Wormald).

Other local companies, which are also EEEGR members exhibiting at Offshore Europe, were E-Tech Group, 3sun, BCD Cables and Global ES.
