More than five acres of railway sidings are up for grabs with Network Rail looking for new leaseholders for a site in Lowestoft.

The land is sandwiched between Commercial Road to the south and the Lowestoft to Norwich and Ipswich railway tracks to the north.

It includes disused sidings which could be upgraded for the use of freight trains with potential funding from Network Rail available for any potential renter.

The property description states: 'There is direct access to the adjacent port suitable for a wide range of maritime cargo, including being located close to Crown Estate licensed sea dredged aggregate supply points.

'Freight has not been viable at this site in recent years but a re-signalling scheme will allow access for modern freight train lengths.'

The land is available from December 2018 pending the succesful completion of a £68m resignalling project at Reedham Junction which will allow modern length freight trains to run from Lowestoft through to Norwich and to the rest of the United Kingdom.
