Five arrested after firearms incident in Lowestoft

FIVE people have been arrested on suspicion of possessing firearms and ammunition in a public place after an alleged incident in Lowestoft. Police officers – some of them armed – were called to Homefield Avenue on the Whitton Estate at about 11.50pm on Sunday after someone reported seeing a man being forced into a car at gunpoint.

They arrested two 23-year-old men, a 20-year-old woman, a 37-year-old woman and a 42-year-old man.

All five were questioned and bailed until October 31 pending further inquiries.
