REGARDING the problems surrounding the footpath at north Lowestoft referred to in the report (March 28), “War of words over footpath”, we are pleased to see the spokesman for Waveney Council agrees with us that maladministration has occurred.

REGARDING the problems surrounding the footpath at north Lowestoft referred to in the report (March 28), “War of words over footpath”, we are pleased to see the spokesman for Waveney Council agrees with us that maladministration has occurred.

We were surprised to find that Waveney had been trying, without success, to tackle issues with this path since 1975, far longer than we were aware.

In view of this time span perhaps we can be forgiven for a note of impatience that may have crept in to our statement.

We are also pleased to see that council officers are trying to correct the maladministration.

We have been told this on occasions in the past but remain optimistic and ready to congratulate the officers now dealing with this if they can overcome the inertia that has previously been evident.
