A former Oulton Broad nightclub is set to get a new lease of life and help a local charity in the process.

Yilmaz Kalayci, owner of the Marmaris restaurant in Bridge Road, is reopening the club below his premises - formally known as Escape Club Lounge - as a state-of-the-art cocktail bar.

Opening under the new name of Noreena Cocktail Lounge on Saturday, November 11, Mr Kalayci is organising a ticket only launch to welcome in new customers and raise funds for Lowestoft-based charity Access Community Trust.

Mr Kalayci decided he wanted to help a charity that provides essential services to those that live in the community where he works, and Danny Steel chairman of Lowestoft Vision, the town's business improvement district, suggested Access could benefit from the fundraiser.

Mr Kalayci said: 'The ethos of our restaurant is about bringing people together in the community. Serving traditional chargrilled food, a family run business with over 25 years' experience and a track record of serving some of the most authentic Turkish cuisine with a modern touch. We wanted to help those that help others in the community.'

Access Community Trust aims to prevent people from becoming socially excluded, and helps with support in health and wellbeing, accommodation, employment and enrichment.

Speaking on behalf of the charity, business support officer Dave Eagle said: 'We are absolutely delighted and humbled that Danny suggested us as the chosen charity to support at this event. The generosity shown by Yilmaz is something that we are forever thankful for and will help greatly moving forward in the work we provide in the Lowestoft community with future projects.'

With influences from around the world, the bar aims to offer a large range of unique cocktails, some Mr Kalayci says have not been tasted in the area before.

The launch event will open at 6pm with tickets priced at £10 each including two free drinks and a cold meze. Tickets are limited to £100 people.

A raffle will also be held with prizes including a meal for four with a bottle of wine at Marmaris.

Tickets can be bought from The Work Space and Steel and Co, both in Lowestoft High Street, Sams Coffee House in Bevan Street East and Marmaris restaurant.
