A group of telephonists, who worked together in Lowestoft, met up again recently to share memories of their time answering calls.
The group all worked at the BT Telephone Exchange in Clapham Road prior to the unit closing in 2003.
Organiser Val Franklin said: 'Over 40 people came along to the Commodore restaurant for the reunion and it was great to see them all again. It was especially nice to see Faith Hammond whose recorded voice was previously used on the 'Speaking Clock' and also on Directory Enquiries stating 'the number you require is….'
The BT telephonists' duties previously included answering emergency 999 and general assistance calls before later changing to answering just Directory Enquiries calls.
Mrs Franklin said: 'It was the first big get-together we have had for a while, although we have kept in touch through Facebook and other social media – but it was good to meet up face to face again and to chat about the good old days.'
