An 80s-themed fundraiser, collections and a special makeover have helped to boost the James Paget University Hospital.

Staff from the Lowestoft Marks and Spencer (M&S) store raised £2,071.56 through in-store collections and an 80s-themed day of fundraising to help support patient care on Ward 17.

Overall, the store in London Road North has donated £5,000 to the hospital in the last few months – and given a badly-needed makeover to a garden next to the hospital's bereavement suite.

Staff from the store spent two days clearing overgrown vegetation from the garden before planting shrubs and installing features including a bench and bird table – which were made by the Lowestoft-based Special Objectives For Local Disabled (SOLD) charity – and plaques from Timpson in Lowestoft.

The bench was donated by staff member Emma Rose in memory of her father.
