Gardening enthusiasts from across Lowestoft rewarded for best flowers and vegetables

Green fingered gardeners have been recognised for their efforts as a horticultural society held its presentation evening.

The awards ceremony was held prior to the Lowestoft and Oulton Broad Horticultural Society annual general meeting recently at St Luke’s Church, Homefield Avenue.

Members who won the most points at the Grand Flower and Vegetable show, held by the society at Carlton Colville Community Centre in August, were the recipients of a glittering array of cups and shields.

Almost 300 people had visited the Summer Show over the course of the two days and they were treated to a range of exhibits including Dahlias, Fuchsias, Gladioli, cut flowers pot plants to all kinds of vegetables, flower arranging, handicrafts and photography.

The worthy winners were, Ken Abel, Donny Andrews, Ron Carroll, Bob Coutts, Jean Davis, Catherine Douse, Doreen Kent, Ivan Kilbourne, John Perkins, M Swatman, Cynthia Thomson, John Thomson, Alan Watson, Roger Webb, John Wells and Tony West.
