I FEEL bemused and betrayed. Why? That wind turbine, the one to show the world what an innovative company and town there is on the east coast, the one standing forlorn and useless, broken down yet again.

I argued for the placement of Gulliver in the first instance as a fine example of how clean energy can work. Well it doesn't. Well hardly ever, I would like to know the percentage running time since the thing was installed.

I heard on the radio that the problem this time is a low voltage circuit breaker. I have just completed 45 years on engineering in the food industry, if we had a breakdown that had lasted more than a few hours I would have lost my job and that machinery was just as complicated, just as high tech. We had to get over it somehow, I cannot believe that with a bit of ingenuity the current situation could not have been resolved.

To add to my exasperation all this has included an open day at the site.

Is this the only turbine in the world with one of these circuit breakers, if so why?

For goodness sake get stuck in, we would have had to modify something; taxi a part from around the country, fly it from around the world, why not pinch the part from one of those off Yarmouth. One more of those stopped would hardly notice. I've probably got something I could get to work in my shed.

When I had great faith in wind energy I heard and repeated that one of these might run a good sized town, well I would not want to be in that town imagine waiting months for a cup of tea.

I would say one thing, get it fixed or get rid. It's an embarrassment
