FRYING pans at the ready... Britain's most easterly pancake race takes place in Lowestoft on Tuesday, and there is still time to enter.

Supported by The Journal and the Marina Theatre, the race will see local businesses and organisations going head to head in London Road North, outside the Westgate Department Store. Prizes will be awarded to the fastest team and the runners-up following a series of heats. The event continues a local tradition revived last year when The Journal team emerged victorious.

l A pancake night is being held at St Edmund's Hall, Southwold, from 6pm on Tuesday. There will be pancakes, a film show and live music and the event will mark the launch of STEP 2, a fundraising scheme to make improvements to the hall. Tickets are �5 (�2 child) and available from the Millennium Hall office or from John Bennett at 1 Barnaby Green.
