A FRIEND of a 13-year-old girl who was alleged to have been sexually assaulted by a hospital doctor, yesterday told a jury how the girl appeared upset and in tears after leaving the examination room and had said the doctor seemed “not right in the head”.

Rashid Sandhu, 30, an accident and emergency doctor at the James Paget University Hospital (JPH), Gorleston, is alleged to have informed the girl she needed an abortion, after falsely telling her that tests showed she was pregnant, Norwich Crown Court heard.

The prosecution alleged that Sandhu, who has admitted having a stash of 170 porn images of children on his home computer, took his obsession to “another level” and got the girl to pose in the same way, as one of the images.

He then began to massage her breast and inserted a tube in her private parts.

Sandhu, who lives at Hopton, near Yarmouth, but now lives in Kent, denies one count of sexual assault.

Giving evidence via video link, the girl told the court how she had gone to hospital with the 13-year-old girl as they both had stomach pains and problems going to the toilet.

She said they were both examined by Sandhu and given tablets but then he later phoned her at home and asked if they would both go back to the hospital the next day.

He arranged to meet them at a bus stop outside the hospital and took them in through a side entrance.

She was accompanied by her boyfriend and said she decided against any further treatment but the 13-year-old girl went into the room with Sandhu. She said after the examination the girl had run out of the room in tears and rushed into the car park.

“We told her to stop and calm down. She told us he wanted to take pictures of her body.”

She said she had been naked in the room and he had asked her questions about her sex life.

The girl said that Sandhu had then come out of the hospital and told her that the girl had gone through with the abortion and was upset.

She said she shook hands with Sandhu before leaving the hospital grounds.

She said the girl had told her that her parents would “go mental” if they found out about what happened and said that the doctor was not right in the head.

A few days later she found out that her friend had made a complaint about the doctor and police were involved.

The case continues.
