PHOTOGRAPHERS are being challenged to 'give it your best shot' in a competition to highlight the natural beauty of one of the most scenic parts of Suffolk.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), amateur photographers are being given their opportunity to show their skills across three categories: landscape, wildlife, and 'your AONB'.

People can enter up to three pictures in each category and the best images will be shown at a special exhibition at the Suffolk Food Hall this autumn, while the winners will receive a full day's personal photography tuition, worth over 500, from photographer Tony Pick, from competition sponsors Coastal Images Gallery, of Aldeburgh.

Malcolm Farrow, Suffolk Coast and Heaths AONB communications officer, and a keen photographer himself, said: 'Whether it's the mysteries of a misty dawn that inspire you to pick up your camera, a magnificent Marsh Orchid, or just your Mum eating an ice cream on Aldeburgh beach, you can enter our competition. There are great prizes on offer, and the chance to be part of a special exhibition to celebrate the AONB's 40th anniversary. So get out with your camera and give us your best shot!'

The competition is open to amateur photographers of all ages and abilities. The closing date for entries is Monday, August 2 and entry forms can be downloaded from the Suffolk Coast and Heaths AONB website: www.suffolkcoastandheaths.org/downloads.asp?PageId=186
