OLYMPIC boxing hopeful Anthony Ogogo is proving to be the ultimate survivor.

For the homegrown teenager is in line to land his biggest prize of all - a cheque for £50,000 which he's pledged to share with his family in Lowestoft - provided the odds-on favourite wins Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack.

And after receiving an automatic pass through to Monday's final following dramatic late-night nominations on Wednesday, a rallying call from the people of Lowestoft is today going out - calling on the town's support in backing the nation's favourite.

The Journal has produced a series of placards, which will be on display outside the Hertfordshire BB house calling on people to vote for Anthony as the support of the nation is canvassed during the live final.

Speaking about his path into the final, Anthony's Triple A boxing club coach John Cremi, said: “It's great news for Lowestoft, great for boxing and superb for the club. He's done so well so far and done so much good for the sport. Hopefully, he will be a winner next week - let's keep our fingers crossed and hope locals

back him.”

And echoing those sentiments, there were plenty of nerves at his home this week, as mum Teresa and sisters Carly, Toni, Leanne and Joanne were hoping to be part of the final celebrations.

“Hopefully, everyone will support him and vote for him,” said Anthony's

20-year-old sister Toni.

A full family contingent are hoping to greet the 19-year-old former Kirkley High School pupil next week, with a number of other friends and supporters also set to make the journey to Hertfordshire.

“I'd love to be there at the end of it all; Joanne lives that way anyway and will be able to go, while Leanne works in Norwich and hopefully we'll all sort something out,” said Toni. “I think he's done brilliant so far.”

By going into the BB house, Anthony was hoping to raise his profile and the sport of boxing - but he has also pledged to repay his mum with half of the winnings after she single-handedly brought up five talented, sporting youngsters.

“The money would give her a break from being an extra-special mum, from working so hard in a job she loves and having looked after us

all for the past 24 years,” said Toni.

“Mum has pushed and encouraged each of us in sport (Carly with her football, county swimming and boxing; Toni for her county swimming and gymnastics; Joanne for Norwich Academy football and athletics; Leanne for gymnastics and representing England at the high jump and long jump in athletics; and Anthony in boxing).”

Anthony has a tattoo on his arm emblazoned with “Mum I love you, thank-you for everything,” and is described by his sisters as always being “kind and generous” and “very family-orientated.”

“When he came home from China (after an international boxing event last December) he brought us all Ipods, and for Christmas he surprised us with a new tattoo with all our names on it - which was a real shock and left us teary-eyed,” said Toni.

The tattoo on Anthony's body features all his sister's names and says: “God bless me for my four beautiful sisters. May you have all the happiness in the world and be protected.”
