A museum which celebrates the golden age of trams and trolleybuses opened a new £50,000 exhibit.
The East Anglia Transport Museum, in Carlton Colville, near Lowestoft, is one of only three places in Britain where almost-silent trolleybuses operate regularly.
Now a two-year project to double the length of the museum's internal road system, which transports visitors around the site in vintage trolleybuses, is complete. The new stretch of road, called Herting Street, was officially opened on Saturday afternoon and means the museum's historic trolleybuses can, for the first time, operate a circular route without the need for reversing.
Work on the roadway started in November 2007 after funding was made available from a single benefactor, and the much-anticipated opening of Herting Street was marked on Saturday with a parade of vintage buses and trams.
Yesterday, the museum hosted its annual bus event, offering free trips to and from the site into Lowestoft and Beccles on vintage buses.
