A COMMUNITY church room, a scout group, a maritime heritage organisation and a village hall have all received an early Christmas present thanks to Bernard Matthews.
The newly formed Bernard Matthews Community Fund has handed out its first set of grants with �1,000 going to help repair the roof of the community church room at St Catherine's Church in Ludham, near Great Yarmouth.
Another �1,000 has been given to the Lowestoft & East Suffolk Maritime Society which will be used to equip a new educational facility at the society's museum.
Youngsters at the 1st Dereham Scout Group are also celebrating after they were given �750 to buy cooking equipment for trips.
The fund also handed out �500 to villagers in Westhall, near Halesworth to get new furniture for the village hall which is run by the Westhall Community Council.
The Bernard Matthews Community Fund was formed in October with a �49,000 initial jackpot to be given out to worthy causes. It is administered by the Norfolk Community Foundation.
Andrew Sherwood, Bernard Matthews human resources director, said: 'We have always been very active in supporting good causes within the community that support our business.'
