HAVING been born in the late 1940s and over the years been lucky enough to enjoy live bands like The Who, Animals, Kinks, Stones, Hendrix, U2, Oasis, we said how lucky we are, as grandparents in Lowestoft, to be able to hand back the grandchildren, don make up, medallions, boots and leathers, and have the weekend we've had thanks to Paul, owner of the Lady of the Lake.

Isn't it nice to know every weekend you can go to a local venue that provides good top class music for free.

It is always trouble free and still has a few decent beers.

On Friday a good crowd of mixed ages were entertained by a popular Norfolk band called The Divide. A very good group led by father and son Garth and Ross.

Having recently paid money to see John Campbell and his band do an absolutely brilliant tribute to Jimi Hendrix at the Marina Theatre we thought we've seen it all with top musicians until Sunday evening. Advertised were a top Dutch band called The Mellotones, a good excuse to go out and celebrate Father's Day.

They played a mixture of blues and rock and we could not believe what a brilliant performance we were treated to by a group over here to play concerts in front of thousands of people.

From all of us lucky enough to be in the Lady of the Lake, we would like to thank Paul for providing top class free live music and long may it continue.
