A popular park has been hailed once more after scooping another Green Flag award.

Nicholas Everitt Park, in Oulton Broad, was recognised for the quality of its facilities as it received the prestigious accolade for the ninth consecutive year.

The park is managed by Oulton Broad Parish Council, and parish council chairman Sandra Keller said: "Its a thrill for our beautiful park to be awarded the Green Flag for the ninth consecutive year.

"Its testament to all of the hard work that goes into looking after the park, from the parish council, and all of the work by gardener, Marie, and the team at Norse, and the Friends of Nicholas Everitt Park who put in hundreds of voluntary hours every year".

The Green Flag Award recognises and rewards well managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of recreational outdoor spaces across the UK and around the world.

The last year has seen several developments in the park, with new information boards and way-finding signage as well as the new play equipment that was opened a couple of weeks ago.

Several other projects are in the pipeline with the parish council looking to progress these in the coming months.

Nicholas Everitt Park continues to host a growing number of varied events throughout the year.

Over the next few months visitors can enjoy free Sunday concerts on the bandstand and the powerboats on Thursday evenings.

Other events include 'Art on the Railings' on July 27, a craft fair on August 4, 'Stone Age Sundays' at the Museum starting on July 28, and the Lowestoft Lions Gala Day on August Bank Holiday Monday.

The Dragon Boat Festival is on August 31, before September sees the three night open air cinema showcases in the park, Museum Heritage Open Days and the Oulton Broad Art Circle exhibition.
