Starting from 10 August, the whole length of Hollingsworth Road will be undergoing major maintenance. Suffolk County Council, in conjunction with Carillon Highway Maintenance, will be doing the work in two phases. Phase one will be from Yarmouth Road to Ashley Downs and will include removing the old road surface and resealing the joints of the original concrete road, as well as footway surfacing and putting in new kerbs at various locations. The work is expected to take eight weeks; through traffic will be controlled by lights. Phase two is planned to start from 19 October and will involve the closure of Hollingsworth Road to through traffic from Ashley Downs to Oulton Road. Only authorised access to properties and businesses will be allowed during the closure. This second phase is expected to take two weeks. Contact Simon Briggs, Suffolk County Council Environment and Transport Services on 01502 534311 or Steve Garrod at Carillon Highway Maintenance on 01473 588620 for further information. A map of the two phases will also be on display at the Gunton Estate Community Hall.
