Free half-term activities for children in Lowestoft and the surrounding area are being offered as part of a countywide festival.

As part of this year’s Suffolk Walking Festival, Lowestoft Rising – working with Sentinel Leisure Trust, Lowestoft Museums and partners – is inviting primary school age children, parents, carers and family members to take part in two days of fun activities.

Next Tuesday, May 29, at 10am, at Nicholas Everitt Park in Oulton Broad, children and their families can take part in a one mile ‘Golden Mile’ walk.

Family-friendly events will also be held in the park and the museum, which will be open for a family friendly free visit to experience the exhibits and displays. Partners will be putting on fun games and activities in the Park for children of all ages to take part in.

Also next Tuesday, at 2pm to 4pm, and next Thursday, May 31 from 7.30pm to 9.30pm, children and their families can explore Carlton Marshes Nature Reserve. Meet at the Visitors Centre in Burnt Hill Lane, Carlton Colville.

On May 31, at 10am at Sparrows Nest in Lowestoft, a one-mile walk through the park will end at the Maritime Museum.

Activities and events will be delivered next week by qualified staff from OneLife Suffolk, Premier Sport, Sentinel Leisure Trust, East Coast Community Health Care and Lowestoft O-go-go.

The events in Nicholas Everitt Park and Sparrows Nest Park will conclude at about 2pm, and organisers said there is no need to book for the walks – just turn up to your chosen event/s on the day at 10am to take part.

Children should be suitably dressed for walking, and remember a picnic lunch and suitable drinks for the day.

Children who attend two or more of the events and obtain an attendance stamp at each event will be entered into a prize draw to win a range of fun prizes.
