The half term break is looming and you'd be forgiven for thinking the past few weeks have flown by.

But when it comes to occupying youngsters, we've got you covered as we guide you through our list of things to do in Waveney later this month.

• Africa Alive! - Whites Lane, Kessingland February 18 - 24, 9.30am - 4pm

Offering a chance to see more than 80 different species of animals, Africa Alive! has become one of Waveney's most popular half term destinations in recent years. The park, which houses a wide variety of mammals, birds and reptiles, has welcomed a large number of new animals into its park over the past 12 months - including a critically endangered black and white ruffed lemur called Lemony, a male Chapman's zebra and two serval kittens.

• Children's activity day - Kirkley Centre, London Road South, Lowestoft February 21, 10am - 2pm

Organised by Community Action Suffolk and East Suffolk Communities Team, children can get involved with music, drama, dance, boxing and much more at this special activity day. Activities for all ages will be free, with refreshments available.

• Walk along the River Waveney - Beccles to Geldeston This picturesque walk starts in Beccles, where visitors can soak up the history of the market town before embarking on a peaceful stroll alongside the River Waveney. The Wherry Inn and Locks Inn, both in Geldeston, offer an opportunity for a pit-stop. Walkers can either return along the original route, or attempt the seven-mile loop by crossing the marshes and heading back to Beccles along the Angles Way.

• Adventure Island Play Park - Pinbush Road, Lowestoft February 18 - 24, 10am - 6pm

Providing a play space and activities for children up to the age of 14, Adventure Island Play Park is an ideal place to find half term fun. Youngsters can enjoy the three exciting levels on Pete's Pirate Ship, complete with zoopa ball cannons, an astro slide, bouncy floor - and an opportunity to walk the plank. Elsewhere, there are special play zones for under 5s and under 2s.

• Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum - The Street, Flixton February 19, 20 and 24, 10am - 4pm

The endearing museum was officially opened in 1976 after a group of local aviation enthusiasts decided steps should be taken to preserve aircraft and artefacts in the region. With virtually all memorabilia acquired through donations over the decades, the vast collection continues to grow and attract visitors from across the country.

• Richardson's Family Entertainment Centre - Whapload Road, Lowestoft February 18 - 24, 10am - 11pm

Nothing says half term more than a game of ten pin bowling. With 14 bowling lanes, amusements, a play area, restaurant and bar, the popular entertainment centre offers something for the whole family and is open seven days a week.

• Sutton Hoo roadshow - Beccles Library, Blyburgate, Beccles February 19, 10am - 2.30pm

The Sutton Hoo roadshow arrives in Beccles, offering children a variety of free activities and a chance to learn about the site from the experts who work there. When excavated in 1939, Sutton Hoo was found to contain an undisturbed ship-burial, including a wealth of Anglo-Saxon artefacts of outstanding historical significance. Children who attend the event will be given a rare opportunity to handle some of the intriguing objects that were discovered in the sixth and seventh-century cemeteries.
