I AM writing in reply to David Batley's letter (Postbox, February 26). I think it was an unfair attack on Lowestoft. If it's so bad, why does he live in Pakefield, Lowestoft?I like nothing better than walking all the way from Pakefield along the beach, past the little beach huts and along the promenade on a lovely sunny day with the sea sparkling and the award winning beach.

The Pavilion is an amazing design and a prominent landmark and seeing my grandchildren having fun in the fountains in front of it is the best.
A walk along the pier, past the yacht marina and on to the harbour mouth is also not to be missed.
Southwold has, by comparison, a very attractive pier with expensive food outlets, overpriced beach huts and a beach which is not award winning and quite dangerous in parts with the high drop from the prom.
Don't get me wrong, I do like Southwold.
It's a very pleasant place to visit but please do not slate Lowestoft seafront.
It's an ideal place for families.
