Hotel evacuated as fire breaks out

HOLIDAYMAKERS and business people were evacuated from a hotel in the early hours of this morning as fire broke out in a derelict building next door.

Around 130 people were woken up and asked to leave the New Beach Hotel, on Marine Parade, Yarmouth, at 5.

HOLIDAYMAKERS and business people were evacuated from a hotel in the early hours of this morning as fire broke out in a derelict building next door.

Around 130 people were woken up and asked to leave the New Beach Hotel, on Marine Parade, Yarmouth, at 5.15am today in case of fire spread from Peppino's restaurant next door on Regent Road.

The blaze had taken hold of the entire ground floor of the former restaurant and the other two floors were smoke logged.

Breathing apparatus and ladders were used during the operation, which finished at 7.18am, and everyone staying and working at the hotel is now accounted for.
