DRIVERS are being warned they could face delays when a huge pontoon is transported through the region tomorrow.

A pontoon measuring 5.8m wide, 4.6m high and 17m long and weighing 54 tonnes will be escorted by the police when it leaves Barton Mills on the A11 at 5am.

Officers said it will travel on the A47 then onto the A12 Suffolk border before reaching Lowestoft.

A police spokesman said: “Road users are advised that the abnormal size of the load will make the journey very slow and members of the public are advised to find an alternative route if possible.”
